play

You can use the Climafide Cards with your family, coworkers, neighbours, students, friends, peers, friendly strangers! Fun to play with anyone who is curious and willing to engage in a variety of contexts. No "expert" knowledge is needed, you are the expert of your own story... and we all can learn from each other.

principals

Everyone carries different contexts, comfort levels, and knowledge. A few principles help create a positive and learning space for all.

connection

Balance listening and expression. Notice when you're holding back your thoughts or when it's someone else's turn to speak.

conflict

Be curious about differences.
Some views may oppose each other, but suspend judgment of one another to investigate Some of the best insights come from exploring tensions.

care

For oneself and others.
Prioritize well-being and joy throughout: take breaks, move mindfully, and let everyone engage as they can in the moment.

purpose

How you want to use the Climafide Cards depends on what is the general desired outcome and who you’re playing with…

A note on the role of the facilitator:

Thank you for picking up the deck and wanting to engage! That is a huge step towards a more just world. There is no pressure, truly,  but if you are leading the game and discussion, you become an important guide for the others you are bringing in. However, that doesn’t mean there is only one way to do it and especially doesn’t mean that you have to act unlike yourself. As a goal of the game is to invite people’s experiences and selves into the climate conversation, the more YOU, you are, the more you inspire others to do the same.

Your primary goal is to facilitate a curious, open, and safe discussion.

You can do this by noticing where there is joy, and exploring that further through asking a follow-up question and likewise noticing where these is tension, and asking the group if they would like to discuss or move on. There are many ways to facilitate and many tools available if you need more help.
