Climafide Community is a place to share the stories behind the motivation of this organization: you!

So much of envrionmental education, if we are lucky to get any at all, is impersonal and disconnected from the reality of the local context, never mind our specific position. Sometimes online, if the algorithim gods bless us, we are able to find local knowledge and climate action, but it too, can feel unwelcome, fear-based or too fast-paced for any meaningful engagement with the content. I have been so lucky to learn in variety of contexts; youth leadership programs, on the land, through travel, in graduate school. For me, learning about/ for climate justice, is just as much as the methods, as the content. How and who are we getting our information from? How do I feel?

Here, stories are written to be slow, intentional, and personal. Hopefully, by exploring these stories you can learn from this community, find something relevant to you, and if you don't see yourself reflected, maybe have the courage to share. They are not meant to be purely educational, but through anecdotes, narratives, and art, maybe we can more holistically begin to understand and reflect on the collective challenge ahead. We are looking for stories from anyone, those already engaged or not, and we are happy to work with you to find your voice.

It will also feature a series called Confessionals, which highlights the experiences of kick-ass activists, artists, entrepreneurs, academics, and passionate people who are doing their part in so called "Canada" and beyond. Personally, I need a reminder that I am not alone. I need a reminder of the rich networks that exist that are fighting for a just future, and a reminder of their imperfections. No one is a perfect envrionmentalist, and we don't need to be. Caring for one another and the living world, requires attention not perfection.

I'll also share more of my own journey and the behind-the-scenes of building Climafide, why I think dialogue and other participatory methods are so valuable, and any new resources or upcoming events!

Thanks for being here and excited to grow and share with you.

xoxo,

Vanja
